WARNING
If you must install a booster seat child re-
straint on the front passenger seat:
- Make sure the booster seat has been de-
signed and cert ified by its manufacturer
for use on a front seat w ith a passenger
front and side a irbag.
- Always follow the manufacturer's
in-
struct ions provided with the booster
seat .
- Always move the passenger seat to the
very rear of its fore and aft adjustment
range, as far away from the airbag as
poss ible.
- Always make sure that the passenger
seat is securely latched in place before
install ing the booster seat. The backres t
must be adjusted to an upright posit ion.
- If the passenge r seat cannot be secu re ly
latched in the very rear of its fore and aft
adjustment range, then the passenge r
front a irbag must be t urned off with the
ON / OFF switch.

Securing a child safety seat using a
safety belt
Safety belts for the rear seats and the front
passenger can be locked with the convertible
locking retractor to properly secure child
safety seats.
The safety be lts emergency lock ing retractors
for the rear seats safety belts and for the
front passenger's seat safety belt have a con-
vertible locking retractor for child restra ints.
The safety belt must be locked so that belt
webbing cannot unreel. The retractor can be
activated to lock the safety be lt and prevent
the safety belt webbing from loosening up
du ring normal drivi ng. A child safe t y seat can
only be properly ins t alled whe n the safety belt
is locked so that the child and child safety
seat will stay in place .

Always remember: Even tho ugh you r vehicle is
equipped with an Advanced Airbag system, all
children, especially those 12 years and young-
er, shou ld always ride in the back seat p roper-
ly restrained for the ir age and si ze.

WARNING
Imp roperly installed chi ld safety seats in-
crease the risk of serious pe rsonal injury
and death in a collision .
- Always make sure that the safety belt re -
trac t or is locked when insta lling a child
safety seat. An unlocked safety belt re-
tracto r ca nnot hold the chi ld safety seat
in place dur ing no rm al dr iving or in a
crash.
- Always buckle the child sa fety seat firmly
in place even if a ch ild is not sitt ing in it .
A loose child safety seat can fly aroun d
during a sudden stop or in a collision
- If the backrest is not securely latched,
the child and the chi ld restraint will be
thrown forward together with the bac k-
rest and will strike parts of the vehicle
interior. The child can be seriously in-
jured or killed .
- Never install rear-facing child safety
seats or infant carriers on the front pas-
senger seat. A child will be serious ly in-
jured a nd can be killed when the passen-
ge r airbag inflates.
- The inflating airbag will hit the ch ild
safety seat or infant carrie r with great
force a nd will smas h the child safety seat
a nd child against the bac krest, door o r
roof.
- Always install rear-fac ing ch ild safety
seats or infant ca rriers on the rear seat.
- Forwa rd-facing child safety seats o r in-
fant car riers installed o n the front pas -
senger's seat may int erfere with t he de-
ployment of the a irbag and cause serious
injury to the child.
- It is safer to install a forward- facing
child safety seat on the rear seat .
- Always read and heed a ll WARNINGS
whenever us ing a child restrained in ave-
hicle is being used ~
