Undervoltage relay
An undervoltage relay trips in the event
of a voltage failure to prevent restarting
of the machine when the power is
restored. To start the machine again the
START button must be actuated.

6. Surface Planer Mode

6.1

Setup

Danger!
Before setting the machine up:
− Switch machine OFF.
− Unplug.
− Wait until machine has come to a
complete stop.
Cutterblock cover installation:
1.
Slide flat bar steel (6) at the arm of
the cutterblock cover (7) from the
side into the guide extrusion (8).

In order for the arm of the cutter-
block cover to move, a distance of
1 mm is required between arm (9)
and guide extrusion (10).

Tighten the flat bar steel's hexagon
socket head cap screws.
Fence installation
1.
Slide fence carrier (11) into the
groove (12) in the sliding carriage
and position it between the two
arrows. Tighten knob (13).

Loosen thumb screw (14) and adjust
angle to 90°. Tighten thumb screw
(14).
3.
Slide jointer fence (15) with the nar-
row edge facing downwards onto
the fence carrier and tighten the
thumb screws (16).

Loosen thumb screws (17) and push

jointer fence in direction indicated by
arrows. Tighten (17) thumb screws.
Dust collection attachment installa-
tion
The dust collection attachment consists
of two parts, the suction port (18) and
the dust chute (19).
attached to the cantilever arm (20) and
held by spring clips.
1.
Remove the spring clips and swing
the dust collection attachment apart.
2.
Fit the thicknesser bed crank (21)
and lower the thicknesser bed, if
necessary.
3.
Swing the suction port (18) under
the table as illustrated. At the top
the suction port must engage under
the ledge of the jointer bed.

Secure suction port in place by rais-
ing the thicknesser bed.

Connect a suitable dust collector to
the suction port.

Safety

Safety Devices
Cutterblock guard
The cutterblock cover prevents the rotat-
ing cutterblock from being touched when
surface planing.
For effective protection the cutterblock
cover must always be adapted to the
workpiece.
Information for a safe operation
Risk of kickback!
Workpiece is caught by the
rotating cutterblock and thrown back
against the operator:
− Always use sharp cutter knives.
− If in doubt check workpiece for inclu-
sion of foreign objects (e.g. nails,
screws, lose knots).
− Always plane the workpiece over its
entire length.
Risk of injury by touching the
rotating cutterblock:
− Always keep your hands well clear
of the cutterblock.
− Always cover the part of the cutter-
block that is not covered by the
workpiece
with
the
cover.
− Adjust the cutterblock cover exactly
to the dimension of the workpiece.
− Never reach with your hands under
the cutterblock cover when guiding
the workpiece!
− Use a feeding aid (push block) when
planing a small workpiece, which
can not be guided with a sufficient
safety distance to the cutterblock.
− Do not pull the workpiece back over
the unguarded cutterblock!
