Software update
▌Information on software updates
Software updates keep your vehicle and the rela-
ted systems up-to-date and prevent security flaws.
Software updates are available for vehicle compo-
nents such as control units, convenience systems,
locking and safety systems, driver assistance sys-
tems, suspension and drive systems as well as for
the MBUX multimedia system. Software updates
are available via the communication module or a
Wi-Fi connection to an external hotspot.
The navigation maps are also updated via updates
from external storage media (e.g. USB flash drive).
Install available software updates regularly. Other-
wise the security of your MBUX multimedia sys-
tem and individual vehicle components cannot be
ensured.

Software updates can be protected with a sys-
tem PIN. Further information about the sys-
tem PIN ( page 394).
