3) Make sure that shift cable is installed correctly as shown.
Shift lever and shift cable installation: (P.16-1 ).

Move the shift lever all the way forward against the stop, and
check the clearance between the shift lever and the control
panel. The clearance should be 4 mm (0.2 in).
If adjustment is necessary, loosen the 6 mm nuts, and move
the shift lever stop
Tighten the 6 mm nuts securely.
5) Adjust the distance between the end of the metal fitting and
lock nut to 40 mm (1.6 in).
6) Move the shift lever to all the way forward against the stop.
7) Hold the shift cable by hand.
Pull the shift cable down, and adjust the shift cable using the
adjusting nut (cable holder side), until there is no slack from
cable holder to the shift lever.
Tighten the lock nut securely
