Hobs - Use
Choice of suitable pans
Attention to correct choice and use of
pans will help you obtain the best
cooking result most economically, and
generally avoid food boiiing over end
sticking.
• Pan bases
For maximum economy of electricity
when cooking or frying, only use pans
with a flal or very slightly concave
base, When hot the pan will rest
evenly on the hob. Modern sauce¬
pans lor electrrto cookers are the most
suitable and efficient for use on
ceramic cooking areas or solid hot¬
plates.
* Size of pan
The diameter of the saucepan or frying
pan should be very slightly larger than
that of the hotplate / cooking area.
• Ran Eids
Cooking with the lid on the pan retains
the heat.
Notea on use of the hobs
• With ceramic hobs and enclosed
hotplates
Before switching on, place a saucepan
containing water or food to be cooked
on the hotplate or cooking area. This
prevents unnecessary use of energy
or the hotplates warping or burning
themselves out.
Before you slail cooking, make sure
that the holptates or cooking areas
and the base ol the saucepan are
dean and dry. This saves extra clean¬
ing later on. On no account should
sand or grit remain on the surface of
the ceramic hob. This would scratch
the hob surface when a pan was
pushed across.
