Connect the Block Heater
Harness
Note: If the vehicle that the APU is installed on does not
come equipped with a block heater for the
vehicle's engine, proceed to Section 5.6.2,
Connect the Battery Charger Harness.
1. Find a suitable location to route the block heater
harness through the floor in the sleeper cab, away
from obstructions.
2. Measure and scribe a mark where the
27 mm (1 1/16 in.) dia. hole will be drilled.
3. Use a 27 mm (1 1/16 in.) dia. hole saw and drill a
hole for the power distribution box wiring harness
to the block heater wire harness. See Figure 5-6.
4. Install a rubber grommet into the 27 mm (1 1/16 in.)
dia. hole in the truck's floor, from inside the truck's
sleeper cab.
5. Route the terminal side of the P12 or 3-pin load
connection harness through the grommet in the
truck's floor.
6. Locate the the P7 or 3-pin connector on front of the
power distribution box.

7. Connect P7 or 3-pin connector on the block heater
wiring harness to the block heater connector on the
front of the power distribution box.

Locate the wiring for the vehicle's engine block
heater to the shore power connection.
Note: Typically the shore power connection can be
located underneath or near the driver's door.

At a suitable location where the block heater
wire harness connections can be made, cut and
strip the existing wiring for the vehicle's engine
block heater to shore power connection.

8. Connect the wires going to the vehicle's engine
block heater to the corresponding hot, neutral, and
ground connectors of the block heater wire
harness. See Figure 5-10.

9. Connect the wires going to the vehicle's shore
power connection location to the corresponding
hot, neutral, and ground connectors of the block
heater wire harness. See Figure 5-10.
Note: If the block heater connections are not made
as described in Section 5.2.5, then the
vehicle's engine block heater may not
function normally.

Connect the Receptacle Harness

1. Locate the REC or 3-pin connector on the front of
the power distribution box. See Figure 5-7.
2. Remove the protective cap from the REC or 3-pin
connector on the front of the power distribution box.
3. Connect the REC or 3-pin connector on the
receptacle wiring harness to the REC or 3-pin
receptacle connector on the front of the power
distribution box.
