6 Setting up the camera in the network
You have completed the installation steps listed in the

2. Connect the camera to a Gigabit Ethernet port on the PC either directly or using switches. For more
information, refer to section
3. Start the IDS NXT cockpit via the icon on the Microsoft Windows desktop or under "Start > All programs >
IDS > IDS NXT cockpit ".
4. The first time the program is started, a firewall confirmation dialog is displayed. Grant firewall access to all
networks (domain network, private networks and public networks), see section
5. After the start the Finder (device overview) is displayed. IDS NXT cockpit scans the network for IDS NXT
cameras and lists them in this overview. You can see more detailed information about the found devices
when you select a device.
Automatic finding of IDS NXT cameras only works if the following parameters are possible in
the network:

UDP broadcasts via port 5055 ("Finder" queries from IDS NXT cockpit)
·
TCP response from devices via port 5055
·
UDP broadcasts via port 3956 (GVCP - GigE Vision Control Protocol)
5. If the IP address of the camera is not set correctly, the camera is displayed in the Finder with an
exclamation mark. Change the IP address of the camera in the IDS NXT cockpit , see section
IP
address. For further information refer to section
6. Via "Connect" you get to the respective device logon.
7. Select the "Administrator" user class for login.
8. Enter the initial password "ids" and change the administrator password, see section

profiles.
9. Click on "Apply" to save the changes. Afterwards, you will be automatically logged on to the device. We
