7.4.1

Internal backup power with push button

Indu Altimeter units since S/N:23114 are using knob of the instrument to
enable and disable backup power.
Switch ON The Indu Altimeter switches on when it is powered with ex-
ternal source. At the same time it automatically switches on internal backup
battery. If the main bus power is switched off the instrument will get the
power from internal battery.
At any time it is also possible to turn on the instrument with short press on
the Indu Altimeter knob.
Switch OFF - Manual The instrument does not power off when main
aircraft bus is disconnected. To shut it down manually press the knob of the
instrument for 5 seconds. This will disconnect the internal battery and unit
will shut down.
Switch OFF - Auto If the instrument does not detect any activity it will
automatically switch off after 5 minutes. Couple of seconds before shutdown
the warning is issued on the screen. If you press any knob it will continue to
work for next 5 minutes.
The instrument is detecting change of static pressure to determine if it is
moving. It also detects airspeed if such instrument is present on the CAN
bus.
7.4.2

Internal backup power with external switch

Older Indu Altimeter units are using external switch to enable and disable
internal backup power source. There are two options for connecting and
operating the instrument.
Solution With One Switch This option is recommended. Here a single
DPST switch is used. This switch allows you to activate two independent
circuits. When switch is on, it simultaneously connects Indu Altimeter with
the system bus and activates the backup system. When the switch is off, both
circuits are disconnected. This gives you cases 1 and 2 from Table 3.
When master is off and this switch is on, the instrument will run on backup
only (case 3). This combination can be used to perform the capacity test.
Important: Use a switch with 1 A DC rating or more.
