REPLACING
A
KNIFE
BLADE
The upper
knife is
made
of
a
special
long-lasting steel
and
does
not
require
frequent
replacement.
The
lower knife
is
made
of
softer
steel and
will
need
to
be
replaced
periodically.
A
spare
lower knife
is
in the
accessory
kit.

Replacing
the lower knife.
1.
Open
the
front
cover and
rotate the
upper
knife
to
its
highest
position.
2.
Loosen
the lower knife
clamp
screw.
3.
Slide
the lower knife down
and
out
of the knife
slot.

4.
lnsert
the
new
knife
into
the slot
from
the bottom,
and move
it
up
until
the
upper
edge
is
flush
with
the
top of
the
needle
plate.

5.
Be
sure
the knife clamp
is
horizontal, then tighten the
screw.
6.
Rotate
the upper
knife
back
into cutting
position
and
close
front
cover.

1. Openthefrontcoverandrotatehandwheel
tobringtheupperknifetoitslowestposition.
2.
Remove
the
upper
knife
screw,
knife
cover
and
blade. (Figure 98)
3.
lnsert
a
new
blade
with
long
point to
the
rear.
4.
Align the
top
of the
blade
with
the
top of
the
knife
cover and
tighten the
screw
temporarily.
5. Aligntheupperknifebladetothatitslowerfrontedgeoverlapsthelowerknifebylmm.Tighten
the
screw
firmly.
