FLATLOCK SEAM
Flatlock
seams
are
ideal
for
many fabrics,
including.interlock,
tricot,
sweatshirt fleece,
fun-fur
and synthetic
suede.
Flatlock
seaming
may
also be used
on
many
woven
fabrics,
but
be sure
to
make
a
test
seam
first to
determine whether
it will
have
the
necessary
strength.
Flatlock
seaming
should
always
be
considered
"decorative"
because
the thread pattern
will
show on
the
outside
as
well
as
the
inside
of the
garment.
A
flatlock
seam is sewn
in
the
same manner
as
a
three-thread
or
four-thread
seam.
However,
after
sewing,
the
two fabric
layers
are
pulled
apart
so
that
the
stitches
form
a
pattern
over
the flattened
edges.
Before sewing,
you
must decide
which
stitch
pattern you want
to
be
visible on
the
outside
of your
garment.
lf
you want
to
have
the loop pattern
on
the outside,
place
the fabric
layers
wrong
sides
together
when
stitching the
seam.

lf
you want
to
have
the
ladder
pattern
on
the outside,
place
the
fabric
layers
right
sides
together when
st¡tching the
seam.
