12.9 Chan1in1 the fuel pump

Fire hazard Fuel is highly flammable.
The fuel in the fuel tank expands when warm and can escape if overfilled.
- Do not refuel the vehicle in the vicinity of open flames or lit c igarettes.
- Switch off the engine for refueling.
- Make sure that no fuel is spil led; particularly not on hot parts of the vehicle.
- If any fuel is spilled, wipe it off immediately.
- Observe the specifications for refueling.

Warning
D anger of poisoning Fuel is poisonous and a health hazard.
- Avoid skin, eye and clothing contact with fuel.
- Immediately consult a doctor if you swallow fue l.
- Do not inhale fue l vapors.
- In case of skin contact, rinse the affected area with plenty of water.
- Ri nse the eyes thoroughly with water, and consult a doctor in case of fuel contact with the eyes.
- Change your clothing in case of fue l spills on them.
- Keep fuels correctly in a suitable canister, and out of the reach of children.

Material damage
Inadequate fuel quality causes the fuel fi lter to quickly become c logged.
In some countries and regions, the available fuel quality and cleanliness may not be suffi cient. This wil l result in
problems with the fuel system.
- Refuel only with clean fue l that meets the specified standards.

Environmental hazard
I mproper handling of fue l is a danger to the environment.
- Do not allow fuel to enter t he groundwater, the soil, or t he sewage system.

- Remove left fue l tank cover.

- Remove screws

- Remove the fuel pump with the gasket.

Remaining fuel may flow out of the fuel tank.
Place an appropriate container under the engine.
- Position the new fuel pump with the gasket.
- Mount and t ighten screws
