Protective grounding (100 to 240 VAC / 110 to 250 VDC device versions)
The connection of the reference potential surface with the protective conductor system is
normally in the control cabinet close to the power feed-in. This grounding safely conducts fault
currents to ground and thus ensures the safety of the electrical system. According to DIN/VDE
0100, it protects persons, animals, and property from excessive contact voltages.
No protective grounding for devices with 100 to 240 VAC / 110 to 250 VDC power supply
Risk of electric shock
When connecting to the power supply, observe the following:
• IEC plug: Ensure that the socket outlet used has a protective earth connection that matches
• Connection terminals: Connect the terminals according to the terminal assignment
Connect the second protective conductor
Due to the possible leakage currents, it is imperative that you connect a second protective
conductor permanently to the device. The work must be performed by a specialist according to
IEC 62368-1.
Requirements for protective grounding
To wire a permanently connected protective grounding, use copper cables with a cross-section
of ≥ 2.5 mm
protected, use cables with a cross-section of 4.0 mm
For the 100 to 240 VAC / 110 to 250 VDC devices, the grounding bolt is provided to connect
the protective grounding as well as the functional grounding at the same time.
