Ford 420, 515, 532, and 535 Tractors with Transmis-

Have your Ford Tractor & Equipment
Dealer service the inlet and outlet filters (located within
the rear axle center housing) whenever the rear axle or
hydraulic lift system is overhauled.
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
FORD 535
The Ford 535 hydraulic system consists of a loader-
backhoe subframe, a reservoir, a hydraulic pump, a

filter, and screens.
Remove the filter elements (2) from the breather
assembly (1) by removing the screw (3) and cover
(4), Figure 79.
Wash the elements with a suitable cleaning solvent.
Also clean the inside of the breather assembly.
Shake out the excess solvent. Place the elements
in the breather and install the cover and screw.
The reservoir, the filter and the screens are located inside
the radiator shell. The subframe also serves as a reservoir.
The pump is located under the radiator shell in the front
support.
Checking the Hydraulic System Oil Level: The hydraulic
system oil level should be checked daily or every 10
hours.

With the tractor standing level, check the hydraulic
system oil level with the dipstick, Figure 78.

If the oil level is low, add oil through the dipstick
opening until level with the "FULL" mark on the
dipstick. See page 70 for the type of oil to use.
Cleaning the Hydraulic System Oil Breather: The hy-
draulic system oil breather should be cleaned every 50
hours.
