You carl use standard 8 mrn N and Hi8 I"liN,
Digital8 4} vide() cassettes on your camcorder.
Digital8 _ system
This video system has been de_ eloped to enable
digital recording to Hi8 Hi_l/Digital8 _} vide()
cassette.
The recording tinre when you use your
Digital8 ID system canrcorder on Hi8 Hi ,Rl/
standard 8 turn 1_ tape is half of the recording
time when using tile corrventional Hi8 Hi_/
standard 8 mm N system carncorder. (120
minutes nf recording time becomes 60 minutes
in tire SP mode.)
Hi8 HiN system
This Hi8 FIiN systenr is an extension nfthe
standard 8 mm gl system, and was developed to
produce higher quality pictures.
You canmlt play back a tape recnrded in the
Hi8 HiN system correctly on vide(> recorders/
players other dran a Hi8 vide() recorder/player.
To prevent a blank section from being
made on the tape
Touch _ to go to tile end ot' Ille recorded
section belore you begin the next recording in
the lollowing cases:
- You ha,,e played back tile tape.
- You have used EDIT SEARCH.
If there is a blank section or discontinuous
signals on your tape, re-recnrd t_om tire
beginning to tile end of tire tape as described
abnve.
Copyrightsignal
When you play back
If the cassette you play back on your carncorder
contains copyright signals, ynu cannot copy ittn
a tape in ann<her video camera connected to
ynur camcorder.
When you record
You cannot record software on your
camcorder that contains copyright
control signals for copyright protection
of software.

appears nn the LCD screen, nr nn tire TV screen
if ynu try to record such snflware.
Ynur camcorder does not record copyright
control signals nn the tape when it records.
Notes on use
To prevent accidental erasure
Slide tire write-protect tab on tire cassette to set
to SAVE.
REC: The cassette can be recnrded.
SAVE: Tire cassette calmot be recorded (write-
protected).
When labeling the cassette
Be sure In place tire label only on (he locations

Labeling position
After using the cassette
Rewind the tape tn the beginning to a,,oid
distortion of tire picture or tile snrmd. The
cassette should then be put in its case, and stored
in an upright position.
