• Verify the connections at the speaker
Excessive noise or distorted audio is heard at the far end
• Locate microphones further away from vent (air flow from the vent should not be
blowing on the microphone)

• Reduce the input level in the codec setup menus to 50% (if available)
• Contact CTG technical support with the manufacturer, revision and model of the
codec
The room sounds extremely "hollow" to the far end
• Reduce the MIC ADJ trim pot on the front of the SM-02
• Contact CTG technical support to review microphone locations and specifications
of the room.
Return (speaker) audio sounds distorted from the far end
• Set the SPEAKER LEVEL knob to the 2:00 position and the volume setting on
the codec to 50%
• Run an audio tone test from the codec or call a different location to ensure a good
audio source
• Disconnect all speakers and test each one individually to isolate a defective
speaker
The far end hears a delayed return echo
• Ensure that the echo cancellation setting of the codec is set to ON if available
• Verify that the LINE OUT A of the SM-02 connects to the specified input by
CTG
• Ensure the SPEAKER LEVEL is set to at least the 2:00 position
• Reduce the speaker volume of the codec and raise slowly back to 50%, the echo
cancellation should converge at the lower levels
• Contact CTG technical support with the make, revision and model of the codec
The voice-tracking camera does not work properly
• Voice tracking cameras use separate microphones located in a set-top system or
near the camera. The CTG audio system will not change or affect in any way
voice tracking performance. A reverberant, "hollow" room will negatively impact
voice-tracking performance.
• If the camera points to a ceiling speaker when the far end speaks, a Y-cable and a
connection to the voice-tracking base should be added. Please refer to the
instructions provided by the manufacturer.

Defective / Damaged Components

must be issued by CTG before returning any product to CTG's manufacturing facility in
