On the left side of the waveform tab, you ll notice a dialog has opened that offers the ability to change
the shape of the Fade Out (Ramp Down Shape) and Fade In (Ramp Up Shape). There are five possible
shapes on both the Fade In and Fade Out, but the default (Linear — shown as a straight line above) is by
far the most common.
Using the default linear fade in shape (press DONE), our result looks like this:
Press PLAY and listen to the smooth ramp up in volume that this creates.
This is the behavior of the Fade dialog when only the beginning or the end of a file has been selected,
but it changes slightly when the fade needs to span across two files.
The following example shows two files that have been joined together by dragging one on top of the
other. A selection has been made across the point where the two files join:
