Using Degaussed AIT-3 Tapes in Treefrog Libraries
1. Manually load the Degauss firmware tape—this will take a couple of minutes. Once
the firmware upload is finished, the tape will eject itself. Remove the firmware tape
from the library.
Note:
The inquiry string will not show the new firmware revision until
drive is power cycled.
2. Remove the drive(s) that have the Degauss firmware on it. (If you haven't removed
a drive before, please review the Spectra 2K Library AIT Drive Installation Guide.)
3. Turn the drive(s) upside down so that the front face plate is facing you. On the far
right-side corner drive, you will see the DIP switches. These DIP switches are
numbered 1-8. You will notice that number 7 is set in the ON position while all
others are set in the OFF position. This is how non-Degaussing drives should be
set. In order for the drive to be able to read and write to Degaussed media, you will
need to toggle the #3 DIP switch to the ON position. The end result will be the #7
and #3 DIP switches are both set to ON. See Diagram below:
4. Replace the drive(s) into library.
5. At this point, you should be able to read and write to Degauss Media.
Note:
Tapes in a drive without the Degauss Firmware will report error:
CRC CHECK FAILED.
