4. Checking and adjusting
5. Set a dial gauge (3) on the tip of the valve.
IMPORTANT
• Do not drop the valve (5) into the cylinder.

6. Turn the flywheel counterclockwise and measure
the position where the tip of the valve (5) is the
highest.
IMPORTANT
• When measuring the highest position of the
tip of the valve (5), do not rotate the flywheel
clockwise.
If you go past the highest point of the valve
(5), back the flywheel up slightly and
measure the highest point of the valve (5).
7. Stop the flywheel at the position where the tip of the
valve (5) is the highest.
8. Put a tri-square (6) on the flywheel housing and
flywheel and draw a mark for top dead center (7)
and a reference line (8).

9. Remove the crankshaft position sensor.
10. Set the reference pulsar hole (12) to crankshaft
position sensor mounting hole (11) by rotating
flywheel (10) counterclockwise.
IMPORTANT
• Reference pulsar hole (12) is 17th hole for 3
cylinder models or 20th hole for 4 cylinder
models by rotating counterclockwise from
the area where there is no pulsar hole (9).
