6.5.5. Tape Echo

Tape Echo is a type of delay characteristic of early tape-based delay machines such as
the Maestro Echoplex and Roland Space Echo. Input sounds are recorded to a loop of tape
with one or more playback heads to create the echoes. Because tape loops can be unstable
and shift in pitch and timbre, they produce an effect that is warmer and less precise than a
digital delay.
