Camera Recording

Still Recording Effects

Available modes: TAPE-CAMERA, CARD-
CAMERA
You can select one of these still recording
effects to record the still images with an effect.
Type of Still Recording Effects
PHOTO SHOT: A still picture is recorded
following the sound and visual effects of a
camera shutter closing.
9 FRAMES: A still picture is recorded at
intervals of 1/8 of a second using a 9-frame
picture.
16 FRAMES: A still picture is recorded at
intervals of 1/8 of a second using a 16-frame
picture.
Selecting a still recording effect

Set the camcorder to TAPE-CAMERA or
CARD-CAMERA mode (see page 29).

Press the MENU/DISPLAY button until
the menu screen appears.

Select Y, then press SET.
Note:
• In TAPE-CAMERA mode, select the
desired still recording mode (see page
40).

Press f or d (1) to select "SNAP
EFF.", then press SET (2).

Using PHOTO SHOT, 9 FRAMES or
16 FRAMES mode

Perform the steps in "Selecting a still
recording effect" to select "PHOTO
SHOT", "9 FRAMES" or "16 FRAMES".

In Recording Standby mode,
press the STILL button.
• In TAPE-CAMERA mode, a still
image of the subject is
displayed with the selected effect.
Perform step 3.
• In CARD-CAMERA mode, the still image
of the subject will be recorded with the
selected effect. Omit step 3.

Press the REC START/STOP
button.
• The still image of the subject
will be recorded on tape.
To cancel the still image in TAPE-
CAMERA mode
In SNAP mode, press the STILL button while
the camcorder is in Recording Standby
mode.
In STILL mode, press the STILL button.
Notes:
• Still recording effects can also be used during
recording on tape by pressing the STILL button.
• If you use PHOTO SHOT while recording on
tape, the visual effects of a camera shutter
closing will not work.
• You can use PHOTO SHOT without the sound
effect of a camera shutter closing by setting the
SOUND menu item to "OFF" (see page 90).
• The picture quality in Still Recording Effects
mode will be slightly lower than normal pictures.
