Cycling at night is much more dangerous than during the day, as it is more diffi-
cult for motorists and pedestrians to see a cyclist. Cyclists, aware of the risk they
run when outing at dawn, dusk or at night, must pay even greater attention when
pedaling and use specific equipment that helps them reduce these risks. Contact
a professional dealer for information on night safety devices.
Bicycle reflectors are designed to attract and reflect light from
cars and the road in order to make you visible and identifiable
as a cyclist on the move.
Check reflectors and mounting brackets regularly to ensure
they are clean, straight, intact and securely mounted. Repla-
ce damaged reflectors and straighten or tighten them if they
are bent or loose. If present in the middle, do not remove the
front/rear reflectors or the brackets, which form an integral
part of your bicycle's safety system: this makes you less visible
to other road users. Being hit by other vehicles can cause
serious injury or loss of life.
Reflectors cannot replace the lights required by law. Riding at dawn, dusk, night,
or any other time of poor visibility without proper lighting and reflectors is dange-
rous and could cause serious injury or loss of life.
