Introducing the Serial ATA PCI-M

The Serial ATA PCI-M is an ultra high-speed dual channel
Serial ATA controller for use in Mac computers. It
achieves burst data transfer rates up to 150MB/s (1.5Gbps)
and supports various brand of hard disk drives with
capacities greater than 137GB.

    Board Layout Hardware Installation General instructions for installing the card are provided below. Since the design of computer cases and motherboards vary, refer to your computer’s reference manual for further information, if needed. Static Electricity Discharge may permanently damage your system. Discharge any static electricity build up in your body by touching your computer’s case for a few seconds.
  • Page 3 Replace the slot bracket's holding screw to secure the card. Replace the computer cover and reconnect the power cord. Now go to Device Connection to connect your Serial ATA hard disk drives. Device Connection The Serial ATA PCI-M is a dual channel Serial ATA controller that supports up to two Serial ATA hard disk drives.

    Figure 3. Connecting the Serial ATA cable Follow the same instructions when connecting a second hard drive. Device connection is now complete. Close the computer's case then go to Software Installation to complete the Serial ATA PCI-M installation. Software Installation Mac OSX (v10.2.x) or later drivers are built into the controller's firmware, no additional driver installation or firmware update are needed.

Double click the Drivers icon that appears on the desktop. Copy SIIG3512101UpDriveR1.sit onto the desktop, then double click it. Double click SIIG3512101UpDriveR1 Folder that appears on the desktop.

    Click Partition, click Partition again to initialize the drive. Close Disk Utility when finished and continue with Mac OS X installation. For systems that have OS X installed Use this section when Mac OS X is already installed and the controller will be used as an add-on controller. Install the Serial ATA PCI-M and attached drives.
