Using and handling batteries

Please note the following safety instructions for handling batteries. Batteries
can leak or explode, releasing toxic or corrosive substances, resulting in inju-
ry or significant damage to objects.
!
Never charge non-rechargeable batteries, as this poses an explosion hazard
as well as damage resulting from leaking acid.
!
Charge rechargeable batteries using only chargers that are suitable and that
have been tested for this purpose. Otherwise, the battery may pose a fire
hazard.
!
Charge batteries only at ambient temperatures between 0 to +40°C / 32 to
+104°F.
!
Do not bridge the contacts of batteries with electrically conductive material
and do not plunge batteries into water or other liquids. A short circuit be-
tween the battery contacts can cause burns and/or fire.
!
Do not open, modify or destroy batteries, and do not subject them to un-
necessary jolts, direct sunlight, fire, microwaves, extreme pressure or tem-
peratures above 50°C / 122°F. Do not store batteries in hot locations.
!
Do not use batteries that are leaky, discolored, deformed or are damaged in
any other way.
!
Improper use can cause fluid leakage. Leaking battery fluid can cause skin
irritation or burns. Avoid contact with leaked fluid. In case of accidental
contact, rinse with water and seek medical assistance.
!
Improper handling poses the risk of short-circuit or even explosion. Harmful
vapors can escape and irritate the airways. Seek fresh air, and get medical
attention if complaints persist.
!
Dispose of depleted batteries and defective equipment
according to statutory regulations.
