Using the ClimateDetector

With the Kaleas ClimateDetector, simply pushing a button will measure
ambient temperature, relative humidity and wall temperature to determine
the room climate and detect the risk of mildew. You can then initiate sui-
table solutions as needed.
!
The Kaleas ClimateDetector does not have the capability of measuring the
moisture on or in a wall, and does not detect the presence of mildew or
mold spores. It only indicates the potential of mildew formation based on
the measured conditions.
!
Please note that a measurement only detects the climatic conditions at a
single point in time, and does not predict the risk over a longer time frame.
Therefore it is necessary to repeat the measurement at regular intervals.

Initial use

Before operating the device for the first time, check the ClimateDetector
and accessories for completeness (see "Product contents", page 31).

Inserting / replacing batteries

To insert the batteries, open the battery compartment cover [2].
Connect the supplied battery or a similar 9V battery block. To avoid da-
mage, observe the correct polarity of the battery.
Close the battery cover [2] until it audibly clicks and is snug.
The battery symbol [E] appears if the battery is low.

Preparing the ClimateDetector

Once the battery has been installed, the device [1] is ready for use.
Hold the handle of the ClimateDetector [1] so that your index finger can
operate the test switch [3], and your thumb can press buttons [9], [10]
and [11]. The ClimateDetector can be operated with either the right or
left hand.

Operation

Employ the device only for its intended use!
!
Before using, check the ClimateDetector for possible damage. Do not use it
if the safety is in doubt.

Switching on and off

To switch the device on [1], press the test switch [3]. Once the self-test has
successfully completed, a triple signal tone can be heard.
To switch the device off, press and hold the MODE button [11] for more
than 2 seconds; the display [8] and color display [7] will switch off.
If the device is not used for about 60 seconds, it will switch off automatically.
