Operator obligations

• The operator must observe and adhere to the
"Minimum health and safety requirements for
the use of work equipment by workers at work"
(2009/104/EG).
• The operator must ensure that only authorised
personnel and personnel who have been
instructed in the dangers have access to the
device.
The personnel must have read and understood
the entire operating manual, particularly the
Safety chapter.
• Service work may only be carried out by
the HSM Customer Service or by HSM service
technicians of our contractual partners.
• The operator must observe and adhere to the
locally applicable safety and accident prevention
regulations as well as the regulations con-
cerning environmental protection.
• All safety equipment must be checked for avai-
lability, functionality and damage before every
operation.

• If safety equipment is not present, damaged
or non-functional, the operator must take the
device out of operation.
• The operator must report device functions that
are not working properly or damaged to the
manufacturer immediately.

2. Proper use, warranty

The device has been designed and is intended
for commercial use.
The device must only be used to shred the
following materials:
• Hard drives up to 3.5 inches
• CD/DVD
• Magnetic tapes
• Floppy disks
The device may only be operated if it is in
technically perfect condition. The device must
be taken out of operation immediately if a fault
is detected.
No alterations must be made to the device.
Safeguard the device from unauthorised use
after switching off (see chapter: Operation).
Guarantee
• The device has a one-year warranty. The gua-
rantee period is 6 months if the device is used
in multi-shift operation.
• HSM guarantees the delivery of spare parts for
up to 10 years after manufacture of the device
has been discontinued.
• This warranty and guarantee excludes damage
caused by improper use of the device or inter-
vention by third parties.
