originally delivered with each of the components before using this product. Please pay
special attention to the safety precautions.
This product must only be used by a qualified and trained personnel (dentist or

Please conform to the recommendations of the Reprocessing Instructions manual
delivered with your product regarding the procedures of cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing
and packing of the components.
Unscrew the cap and the light guide (when equipped) to clean each component
under running water before disinfection. Use an alcohol-based, commercially available,
colorless disinfectant (ethanol, isopropanol).
Make sure to always sterilize handpieces before use. Non-sterile handpieces
may cause bacterial or viral infections. Please follow present-day rules about sterilization
applicable in your country.
Control regularly that the o-rings of the handpiece and handpiece cord are not
damaged.
Due to the sterilization procedures, the light guide (when equipped) may become
opaque; this may reduce the light from the handpiece. In this case, replace the light
guide. The light source in the handpiece cannot be replaced.
This product is designed to be connected to an Hu-Friedy & EMS Piezon equipment.
The Piezon handpiece must be cleaned and sterilized before the first use and following

using a disposable syringe (min. volume 50 ml) applied to the nozzles of the product.
• Submerge all components completely in deionized water.
• Rinse through all product lumina (e.g. irrigation and aspiration connection) with
deionized water at least 3 times in the flow direction (no back rinsing), using a
disposable syringe (min. volume 50 ml) applied to the nozzles of the product.
• Repeat the cleaning process if the last rinse does not run clear, or if stains are still

Packaging for Sterilization
The clean, dry instruments should be placed in the Steribox sterilization container. The
container should be bagged in a sterilization pouch that is validated for use in a 132ºC
pre-vacuum steam sterilization cycle. The sterilization pouch should be sealed according
to the manufacturer's instructions.
Sterilization
The Piezon handpieces must be steam-sterilized prior to the first use and following each
patient use. Hu-Friedy & EMS recommend sterilization in a fractional prevacuum cycle
at 132°C for 4 minutes with a drying time of 20 minutes. Hu-Friedy & EMS recommend
use of biological indicators and chemical indicators that have been validated for use in a
132ºC pre-vacuum steam sterilization cycle.
