Removing the CD/DVD interface card

To remove the CD/DVD interface card, complete the following steps.
10. If you are instructed to return the CD/DVD interface card, follow all packaging
1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and "Installation guidelines"
on page 47.
2. Turn off the server and all peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords
and all external cables.
3. Remove the server from the rack and remove the cover (see "Removing the
cover" on page 50).
4. Release the CD or CD/DVD combination drive and pull it out of the bay slightly
(see "Removing a CD or CD/DVD combination drive" on page 63).
5. Note the routing of the cables that are connected to the CD/DVD interface
card; you will have to restore the cable routing exactly when you replace the
card.
6. Disconnect the CD/DVD signal cable from the CD/DVD interface card:
a. Squeeze the sides of the cable connector to release the connector from
the CD/DVD interface card.
b. Lift the connector off the card.
7. Disconnect the power cable from the CD/DVD interface card:
a. Grasp the sides of the cable connector and pull up to release the
connector from the card.
Note: You might have to press a flat non-conductive tool such as a
non-conductive screwdriver against the rear of the power connector to
release it from the CD/DVD interface card.
b. Lift the connector off the card.
8. Remove the two screws that secure the CD/DVD interface card to the chassis.
9. Tilt the rear edge of the CD/DVD interface card up slightly and lift the card out
of the server.
