DURING OPERATION

Starting

To prevent engine damage do not operate the engine
start cord when the engine is running.
If the engine does not start after repeated attempts,
contact your local Hayter Authorised Service Dealer
or go to the Honda website.
Ensure the fuel valve is in the ON position before
attempting the starting procedure below.
(Refer fig.13)
Stand behind the mower, hold the handle (1), and
move the throttle control lever to the choke position
(2). Pull the engine start cord handle lightly until you
feel resistance, then pull briskly in the direction of
the arrow as shown in fig. 14 to start the mower (3).
When the engine starts, slowly return the cord to the
storage position. When the engine warms up, move
the throttle control to the fast position (4).
(Refer fig.14)
NOTE: The blade is not engaged at this stage. Refer to

against the handle to power the mower forward (2).

When the ground drive clutch lever is disengaged, the
mower may be pushed. This feature is useful when
mowing in confined areas.

Shutting off the Engine

Release the BBC control and ground drive clutch levers
(1). Move the throttle control lever (2) to the stop
position, to stop the engine. Turn the fuel valve to the
OFF position after all moving parts have stopped.
(Refer fig.16)
Emergency stop: If the engine fails to stop, disconnect
the spark plug lead (1).
(Refer fig.17)

Turning

To prevent accidents do not raise the front of the
mower excessively when making a turn. Never raise
the rear of the mower when the engine is running.
To make a wide turn, steer the mower with the handle
in the direction required.
To make a tight turn release the ground drive clutch
lever, apply downward pressure on the handle to raise
the front wheels just above ground level and steer in
the required direction.
