Press the STANDBY/ON switch to turn on the power.
The KDM-2 can be used by connecting a commercially-available mini-plug (φ3.5 mm) earphone to the PHONE jack. In this case, no sound generates from the speaker.
The speaker or earphone volume can be adjusted with the Volume dial.

Metronome Mode

Turn the power on. The KDM-2 will enter the metronome mode. When the KDM-2 is in the sound out mode, it can also be switched to the metronome mode by pressing the SOUND switch. In this mode, you can specify the tempo, beat, and metronome sound, and perform tap tempo input, regardless of whether the metronome is working or stopped. Start or stop the metronome using the START/STOP switch.

Specifying the tempo

Turn the TEMPO/CALIB. dial to specify the tempo. The faster the knob is rotated, the quicker the setting value changes.
You can select between the tempo setting modes. One is used to specify the tempo in 1-step resolutions in the range from 30 to 252 (FULL step). The other is used to specify the tempo in 49-step resolutions like a mechanical metronome (PENDULUM step). The tempo setting can be changed with the /±1 switch, and in the PENDULUM step, "" is displayed.

Press the BEAT/NOTE switch or the BEAT/NOTE switch to specify the beat.
The red and green LEDs light according to the selected beat.

Specifying the metronome sound

Press the PULSE/PCM switch to specify the metronome sound.
Select the pulse sound or desired PCM sound according to the instrument that is used.

Performing tap tempo input (Specifies the tempo according to the tune)

Press the TAP switch several times in accordance with the tempo of the tune to be played. The metronome detects the interval at which you press the switch, and specifies the tempo accordingly. If the detected tempo is lower than 30, it is specified as 30, and if it is 253 or higher, it is specified as 252.

When the metronome is operating, it automatically starts at the detected tempo. If the metronome is stopped, the detected tempo is displayed on the LCD. During tap tempo input, "TAP" is displayed on the LCD. If there is no input for a given period of time, "TAP" disappears and tap tempo input ends.

Sound Out Mode

Press the SOUND switch to enter the sound out mode. A sound serving as a tuning guide will generate..

Specifying the pitch

Press the BEAT/NOTE switch or the BEAT/NOTE switch to specify the pitch (note name).

Adjusting the calibration (A4 reference frequency)

Turn the TEMPO/CALIB. dial to adjust the calibration value. The faster the knob is rotated, the quicker the adjusting value changes.

Installing the Batteries

Slide the battery cover located on the rear side of the KDM-2 in the direction of the arrow and remove the cover. Next, insert the batteries, being careful to observe the correct polarity, and replace the battery cover.

If any malfunction occurs and it is not removed even after turning the power on and off for several times, remove the battery cover and take out and then reinsert the batteries.

* The supplied batteries are used only to check the KDM-2's operation and may have a shorter life than regular batteries.
