module needs the time to receive initial status information and
firmware levels from the primary management module.
1. Read the safety information beginning on page v and "Installation
guidelines" on page 7 through "Handling static-sensitive devices" on page
8.
2. Remove the acoustic attenuation module, if installed, from the rear of the
BladeCenter unit (see step 3 on page 12 for location).
3. Disconnect any cables from the selected management module.
4. Pull the release latch all the way toward the bottom of the management
module until it stops, as shown in the illustration. The module moves out
of the bay approximately 0.6 cm (0.25 inch).
5. Slide the module out of the bay and set it aside. Within 1 minute, place
either another module of the same type or a filler module in the bay.
6. If you placed another management module in the bay, reconnect any cables
that you disconnected in step 3; then, verify that the OK LED on the
management module is lit.
7. If you have not already done so, configure the replacement management
module. See Chapter 4, "Configuring the management module," on page 23
for more information.
8. Replace the acoustic attenuation module option, if you removed it in step 2.

Cabling the management modules

When two management modules are installed in an IBM BladeCenter unit,
only one management module is active; the second management module, if
present, provides redundancy. The active management module is the primary
module; the redundant management module is the secondary module. If the
