Complete the following steps to install a management module.
1. Read the safety information beginning on page v and "Installation
guidelines" on page 7 through "Handling static-sensitive devices" on page
8.
2. If you are installing a second management module, read "Preparing for
management module redundancy" on page 9.
3. Remove the acoustic attenuation module, if one is installed, from the rear
of the BladeCenter unit.
Acoustic module
Note: If you are replacing the only management module in the
BladeCenter unit, and the management module is functional, you
might want to save the configuration file to another medium before
you proceed; you will be able to apply the saved configuration file
to the replacement management module. See "Restoring a saved
configuration file" on page 32 for information about applying a
saved configuration file.
4. If you are replacing a management module, remove the current module
from the bay (see "Removing a management module" on page 14). If you
are adding a management module, remove the filler module from the
selected management module bay and store the filler module for future
use.
5. If you have not already done so, touch the static-protective package that
contains the management module to an unpainted metal part of the
BladeCenter unit or any unpainted surface on any other grounded rack
component for at least 2 seconds.
6. Remove the management module from its static-protective package.
