If you see the message "Scanner Not Ready" (Windows 98) or "Cannot find the
scanner on the bus" (Macintosh)" . . .
Make sure the scanner is plugged in. You may need to restart your computer after
plugging in your scanner.
Make sure your scanner cable is securely connected. Then open and close the
scanner monitoring utility to manually check for the scanner (see "Enabling
Scanner Monitoring" in your EPSON TWAIN User's Guide). If you still see the
message, unplug your scanner, then plug it in again, and restart your system.
To turn off scanner monitoring, see "Enabling Scanner Monitoring" in your
EPSON TWAIN User's Guide.

Software Problems

If you can't open the EPSON TWAIN driver . . .
Check the USB cable connection. If necessary, restart your computer.
Check that your system recognizes your scanner. Check System Device Manager
in the Windows Control Panel.
Check your scanner source setting. Make sure you selected
If the scanner software doesn't work properly . . .
Make sure your computer meets the system requirements listed on pages 3 and 4,
and supports the software applications you are using.
Check your computer's memory. See if the computer has enough memory for
your software. If you're running other software at the same time, using RAM
resident programs, or have many device drivers, the computer may not have
enough memory. (See your software and computer manuals.) If you are scanning
a large image or scanning at a high resolution, your computer may not have
enough memory to process the image.
Check your software installation. Make sure that your software is correctly
installed and set up. If all else fails, uninstall your software, then reinstall it.
