Backing off from full firm can help with tracking in loose terrain conditions while riding
off camber sections or climbing. The soft setting can also help during lengthy downhill or
rugged conditions where the rider may want the suspension active at all times.
Fox RP23:
Two positions, Climbing Mode (1 setting) or Open Mode (3 settings).
Open (0): Very little compression damping for the least amount of support, with the most
supple and sensitive ride possible.
Light (1): Offers a balance of a bit more compression damping support without losing
too much small bump compliance.
Medium (2): Highest degree of compression damping for the greatest amount of support,
with the least amount of small bump compliance.
Fox Triad / RP2:
Three or two compression settings dial in the shock efficiency and ride characteristics.
Lockout (Triad only) - compression is closed, locking out the shock for the most
efficient pedaling setting.
ProPedal - adds in slow speed compression to improve shock efficiency while still
allowing the shock to absorb medium and large size hits. This setting is great for
all-round riding providing an efficient pedaling platform while still absorbing trail
features.
Open - very little compression damping for the most supple and sensitive ride possible.
