Advantech PCM-3643 Installation Instruction

Installation Instruction for PCM-3643.

Purpose: Setup 8 COM ports sharing IRQ5 &10 start with I/O Address=208H

Procedures:

Confirm IRQ5 & 10 is available.
BIOS setting: Set IRQ5 & 10 as "Legacy ISA"
Set as Enhance mode and set 8COM ports sharing 2 IRQ.
**Refer to Hardware Photo for jumper and switch settings.
1. Enter to control panel and double click "Add/Remove Hardware"
2. Click Next to enter "Choose a Hardware Task" and choose "Add/Troubleshoot a device" and click Next.
3. Choose "Add a new device" and click Next
4. Choose "No, I want to select the hardware from a list" and click next
5. Choose "Ports(COM&LPT) and click next
6. Choose "Communication Port" in Models window and click Next
7. Click OK when pop a warning message.
8. Choose "Basic configuration 0008" in Setting based window and then choose "Input/Output Range" in
Resource settings window and then click "Change Setting" It is not restricted to "Basic configuration 0008"
9. Setting the address as 0208-020F in Value window and click "OK"
10. Choose "Interrupt Request" in Resource setting window and then click "Change Setting"
11. Setting the IRQ as 05 in Value window and click OK
12. Click "OK" to enter "Start Hardware Installation" and click Next and then Click "Finish" to finish one port
setting.
13. Don't restart the computer until all ports are set. Repeat to 1.
14. Please do note that first 4COM ports shares IRQ5 and the other 4COM ports shares IRQ10. Therefore, set
IRQ as 10 for "Interrupt Request" for the last 4COM ports.

Note 1:

Step 9: 0208-020F and Step11: 05 for first setting
Step 9: 0210-0217 and Step 11: 05 for second setting
Step 9: 0218-021F and Step 11: 05 for third setting
Step 9: 0220-0227 and Step 11: 05 for fourth setting
Step 9: 0228-022F and Step 11: 10 for fifth setting
Step 9: 0230-0237 and Step 11: 10 for sixth setting
Step 9: 0238-023F and Step 11: 10 for seventh setting
Step 9: 0240-0247 and Step 11: 10 for eighth setting

Note 2:

Please do remember that I/O Range and IRQ setting should not have conflicts with any
device on you system. Moreover, jumper and switch setting must be corresponding to your I/O
Range and IRQ. Once again, please consult user's manual for detail jumper/switch setting.
