5.3. Step 2: Lighting the charcoal
The most important steps of this task are illustrated
on Figures 6 and 7 on page 46.
Proceed as follows:
1. Turn the electric ventilator to the highest setting (Fig. 6 a).
2 Light the firelighters with a long match. (Fig. 6 b).
3. Wait until the charcoal is covered with a thin layer of white ash.
4. Place the lid on the charcoal container. (Fig. 7).
The first time you use the appliance, you must allow it
to burn for 30 minutes. This removes any remaining
manufacturing greases from the appliance.
Do not place the grill on the appliance yet. An empty
grill can deform when held over heat for too long.
WARNING! Do not use denatured alcohol, gasoline or
other flammable liquids to light or relight the appliance!
You must only use firelighters that comply with EN
1860-3!
Never start grilling when there still are flames in the
charcoal container. Wait until the charcoal is covered
with a thin layer of white ash.
5.4. Step 3: Placing the grill and food
The most important steps of this task are illustrated in
Figures 8 to 10 on page 47.
1. Place the grill on the appliance (Fig. 8).
2. Close the clips on the sides to secure the grill (Fig. 9).
3. You can now start grilling (Fig. 10)!

USEFUL TIPS AND TRICKS
6.1. Adjusting the fire intensity
You can adjust the intensity of the fire by increasing or
decreasing the speed of the ventilator.
• The faster the ventilator turns, the more air is blown into the
charcoal container and the more intense the fire will be.
• Use the control knob to adjust the speed of the ventilator.
Never fully switch off the ventilator while the charcoal is
still hot.
6.2. Preventing food from burning
To prevent your food from burning:
• Never start grilling when there still are flames in the
charcoal container. Wait until the charcoal is covered with a
thin layer of white ash.
• Avoid exposing your food to excessive heat. You can
reduce the heat by lowering the speed of the ventilator.
6.3. Preventing food from sticking
To prevent your food from sticking to the grill:
• Oil the food lightly with a brush before placing it on the grill.
You can also oil the grill.
• Do not turn the food too quickly. First allow it to
heat up thoroughly.
6.4. Adding charcoal
If necessary, add extra charcoal to keep the fire going.
Proceed as follows:
1. Put on heat-resistant gloves.
2. Loosen the clips and remove the grill from the appliance.
3. Turn the ventilator to a medium setting.
4. Remove the lid of the charcoal container and add
the charcoal.
5. Place the lid on the charcoal container.
6. Place the grill on the appliance and secure it with the clips.
7. Switch the ventilator back to the highest setting.

MAINTAINING THE APPLIANCE
7.1. Cleaning the appliance
We recommend cleaning the appliance after every use.
Proceed as follows:
1. Leave the appliance to cool down completely.
2. Loosen the clips and remove the grill.
3. Remove the charcoal container (with lid and base)
and remove the bowl from the barbecue.
4. Clean the appliance with a soft sponge or damp cloth and a
regular cleaning product.
The inner bowl, grill and charcoal container with base
and lid are dishwasher safe.
Never use acid, thinner or other flammable products to
clean the appliance.
7.2. Storing the appliance
• Store the appliance indoors after every use.
• To maximize the lifespan of the appliance, we recommend
storing the appliance in the bag supplied.
• Ensure that the appliance is completely dry before you
store it away. The prevents rust from forming.
• Remove the batteries before storing the appliance for a
prolonged period.
7.3. Recycling batteries
Always recycle used batteries in a safe manner, in accordance
with local regulations. Never dispose of used batteries in your
household waste bin.
7.4. Maintaining stainless steel and powder coated parts
The appliance comprises stainless steel and powder coated
parts. Each material must be maintained differently:

To prevent rust from forming on stainless steel parts,
avoid any contact with chlorine, salt and iron.
Damage that arises as a result of not following these
instructions is considered poor maintenance and is not
covered by the warranty.

the manual), you can view a list of all the parts that make
up your appliance. This list includes a symbol that specifies
the material of each part, so you can use it to check how to
maintain a particular part.
