VoIP QoS

VoIP QoS is a function that allows users to keep enough bandwidth for VoIP calls during
heavy Internet usage periods; hence it can maintain high-quality VoIP calls.
Conditions of QoS
There are two conditions to use the V300 QoS feature properly.
Firstly, your broadband Internet connection should have a fixed upstream bandwidth. Cable
broadband Internet services share a fixed bandwidth and therefore do not have a fixed
upstream bandwidth for their Internet access. In contrast, ADSL users normally have a fixed
upstream bandwidth, which should be stated in their ADSL service plan contract.
Secondly, you will need to let your V300 to handle the Internet traffic for your LAN
network. We recommend you install your V300 based on the following network diagram
which will let the V300 QoS work properly. If you have already had an ADSL router
working, you will need to reconfigure your ADSL router into bridge mode in order to use the
QoS feature (Please refer to the User Manual of your ADSL modem/router for instructions
on how to set this up).
Note:
The WAN port mode in this diagram can be either in PPPoE or Static IP
(assign a public IP) mode.
