9.1 Preparing for sterile work

Both the seripettor® and the seripettor® pro can be auto-
claved without an actuating unit and dispensing cartridge at
121°C, 2 bar and a holding time of at least 15 minutes in ac-
cordance with DIN EN 285.
a.
Unscrew actuating unit and dispensing cartridge, see
Replacing the dispensing cartridge, p. 58.
b.
Loosely seal the valve block with the closure cap (see
Accessories/spare parts, p. 63).
c.
Insert the autoclavable filling tube (see Accessories/
spare parts, p. 63 with the sealing ring up into filling
valve.
d.
Loosely screw the sealed valve block with filling tube
and dispensing tube onto the filled bottle.
e.
Seal the ventilation opening with an autoclavable mem-
brane filter (0.2 µm).
f.
Open dispensing tube, loosen cap nut.
g.
Autoclave.
Do not reassemble the instrument until it has cooled down to
room temperature (cooling time approx. 2 hours, exception:
seripettor® with agar culture medium up to max. 60 °C). After
every autoclaving, inspect all parts for deformities or dam-
age. If necessary, replace them. The effectiveness of auto-
claving must be verified by the user.

After autoclaving, seal the dispensing tube and tighten
the screws.
b.
Under sterile conditions, remove the closure cap.
c.
Screw in the sterile dispensing cartridge (see Acces-
sories/spare parts, p. 63).
d.
Fasten the actuating unit.
