4.6.3 Installing a Cartridge in the Fixed Holder

Perform the following procedure to place another tape or a cleaning cartridge

into the fixed cartridge holder.

Note – The 8mm cleaning tape cartridge contains a shed-free fabric tape that

traps and removes debris from the tape drive heads and tape paths. Its regular

use helps maintain data integrity and improves the reliability of the tape drive.

Do not use cleaners designed for 8mm video applications.

1. Hold the cartridge with the write-protect switch down.

See Figure 4-10.

2. Insert the cartridge into the fixed cartridge slot until it snaps into place.

3. Close the door and lock it by turning the key counterclockwise 90

degrees.
