Use of the microscope in fluorescence (reflected light)
9.1

Centering the mercury bulb

Wait around 5 minutes before proceeding with this
operation to allow the bulb to properly warm up.
1. Turn on the HBO mercury bulb by operating the power supply
switch ①. (Fig. 16)
2. Turn the nosepiece into an empty position (without objectives)
and remove the protective cap, or remove an objective from
the nosepiece.
3. Place a piece of white paper on the stage and insert the filter
cube "B" into the optical path. (Fig. 17)
4. Acting on the focus screw of the collector lens ② and on the
centering screws ③ try to obtain the light spot of the bulb's
arc. (Fig. 18-19)
5. Using the focus screw of the collector lens ②, put the image
of the arc projected onto the paper. The light spot must be
brighter and sharper as possible. (Fig. 19)
