    This document describes the functionalities and the usage of the Advantech FWA-T011 QuickStart Linux Image. The QuickStart Image provided on a pre-installed USB flash drive is based on the Ubuntu Linux distribution and is configured to run on supported Advantech x86 network appliance platforms (FWA-T011).

    Connect the LAN port of the user platform to one of the LAN ports (R2 to R5) on FWA-T011-4CA1S via RJ45 Ethernet cable or SFP fiber cable. This is only required if you would like to access the QuickStart Image via SSH connection, refer to Section 2.7 for more details.

    The SSH server is started automatically as Ubuntu starts up and Putty (or any other SSH client) can be used to establish a connection. In our example, the LAN port (device eth0_1) on the FWA-T011 and the LAN port on the user platform have been connected through a patch cable.

    Advantech’s hardware platform provides hardware monitor ability on board, and it could be read by software in Linux. There are 2 approaches to read out value of sensors, Advantech’s proprietary utility APM (Advantech Platform Monitor) and open source software lm-sensors. See Section 3.2.1 and Section 3.2.2 for more details.

    3.4 Wireless The FWA-T011-4CA1S provides an LTE module and SIM card socket to provide 4G wireless connectivity as a backup network or to support broadband wireless access in remote locations. The Wireless module can support several worldwide carriers via upgrading corresponding firmware.
