Locking Operation
Operation with the PROFIBUS or a local operating unit can be locked in several levels:
4.3.1
Local Write Protection
Parameter changes made using the local operating unit can be prevented with the "Code" local parameter
(= customer code). The device is delivered from the factory with code = 0. The local write protection is
therefore deactivated and all parameters can be edited without entering the code.
You can enable the local write protection by entering a code between 0 and 9999 under "Change Code"
(menu 6.2). Parameters can only be modified locally if this code (menu 6.1) has been entered. Write
access is possible using the PROFIBUS without a customer code.
The local write protection can be disabled temporarily by entering the code under "Enter Code" (menu 6.1).
The write protection will be enabled again automatically when the system returns to the measured value
display level (menu 1.1...1.9) or if a key is not pressed for 10 min.
Code unknown: if you enter the code value "3333" the actual set code will be displayed for 3 s.
Limitation:
If the general write protection is enabled with WRITE_LOCKING (chapter 4.3.2, page 27), you will not be
able to enter any parameters even after entering the correct code.
If you enter the code value "2457" (menu 6.1) a set general write protection WRITE_LOCKING = 0 will be
changed to 2457 and thus disabled (emergency remedy when there is a continued communication failure).
4.3.2
General Write Protection
General write protection can be enabled with the WRITE_LOCKING PROFIBUS parameter. This will then
prevent any changes being made to parameters locally or using PROFIBUS.
0:
General write protection enabled: Parameters cannot be edited.
Exception: Output data for totalizers (set, start) when they are transmitted cyclically (with the data
exchange service).
This write protection can be disabled locally by entering the code "2457" (chapter 4.3.1, page 27)
when there is a continued communication failure.

Note !
Parameter consistency between the device and control system is decisive for the correct
interpretation of the cyclical measured values. During operation the local write protection
(menu 6.2) or WRITE_LOCKING should therefore be enabled using PROFIBUS.
