7.5.2.4 Checking the disc brake

Only applies to pedelecs with this equipment
Checking the brake linings
 Check that the brake linings are no less than
1.8 mm wide at any point and there are no less
than 2.5 mm between the brake lining and
supporting plate.

1 Check brake linings for damage and thick dirt.
 Have damaged or very dirty brake linings
replaced. Contact specialist dealer.
2 Pull handbrake and hold.
3 In doing so, check whether the transport safety
wear gauge can fit between the brake lining
supporting plates.
 If the transport safety wear gauge fits between
the supporting plates, the brake linings have
not reached their wear limit.
 Contact your specialist dealer if they are worn.

Cleaning, maintenance and inspection
Checking the brake discs
Put on gloves as the brake disc is very sharp.
1 Take hold of brake disc and wiggle it gently to
check whether the brake disc is positioned
against the wheel free of backlash.
2 Check that the brake linings move steadily and
symmetrically back towards the brake disc
when you pull and release handbrake.
 If the brake disc can be moved or the brake
linings move erratically, contact your specialist
dealer.
3 Check that the brake disc is no less than
1.8 mm thick at any point.
 If the brake disc is under the wear limit and is
less than 1.8 mm thick, the brake disc must be
replaced. Contact specialist dealer.
