Use
The fresh air calibration must generally be carried out immediately
prior to the measuring. During this procedure, the fresh air must be
free of measuring gases or other interfering gases.
The fresh air calibration must take place without the attached
calibration adapter.
Carry out fresh air calibration as follows:
1. Calibrate device based on fresh air. During the fresh air calibration,
the display of the XXS O

2. Press the "+" button on the X-am® 5000 3 times.
The "
" symbol for fresh air calibration appears.
3. Press "OK" to start the fresh air calibration function.
The measuring value flashes.
4. When the measured value is stable, press "OK" to carry out the
fresh air calibration.
The display of the current gas concentration switches with the
display "OK".
5. Press "OK" to exit the fresh air calibration function or wait about
5 seconds.
If an error has occurred during the fresh air calibration, the error
notice "X" appears. Instead of the measured value, the O
shows "- -".
6. The fault signal must be acknowledged. In this case, the fresh air
calibration must be repeated. If the calibration fails again, the
sensor must be checked by Dräger or authorized qualified
personnel and replaced if necessary.
After a successful fresh air calibration, the device is ready for
measuring.

sensor is set to 20.9 vol%.
NOTICE

i
During the measuring of pure oxygen, an alarm sounds if a
concentration of 100 vol.% is reached. This alarm can only be
acknowledged
concentration has dropped to a value below the alarm
threshold of 100 vol% again. For that, the analysis adapter of
the Dräger X-am® 5000 must be removed so that enough
fresh air can reach the sensor.
In individual cases, it might happen that the measuring range end
value may be exceeded. This is signaled by "
this case, the gassing must be stopped, another fresh air calibration
must be performed and the measuring process must be repeated. If
the Dräger X-am® 5000 signals another exceeding of the measuring
range, a reference measuring must be carried out as a check.
To do so, an oxygen breathing air mixture with a known oxygen
concentration lower than 100 vol.% must be used (e.g. 60 vol.%). If a
value outside of the normal tolerances of the sensor is measured
during this measurement, the device must be sent to Dräger for
inspection.

WARNING
!
Open the valves slowly to avoid heat build-up due to pressure
thrusts.
1. Close all valves.
2. Seal the Nitrox connection (Fig.1, Pos.3) using the screw plug.
3. Remove the protective cap from the oxygen supply connection
(Fig.1, Pos.12).
4. Use the oxygen supply hose to connect the external oxygen
supply to the oxygen supply connection (Fig.1, Pos.12).
