    The Lexmark W820dn, a network model that ships with a duplex unit attached. You may have purchased your Lexmark W820 as part of a multifunction device with capabilities such as copying, faxing, or scanning. For information about setting up components other than the printer, refer to the documentation that came with your multifunction device.

    You can attach your printer to a network using standard network cables. A 10BaseT/100BaseTX Fast Ethernet port is standard on the Lexmark W820n and Lexmark W820dn. You can add a Token-Ring or 10Base2 Ethernet port to any printer model by installing an optional MarkNet internal print server.

    BNC T-connector. You can attach your printer locally using either the standard USB port or parallel port. A USB port is standard on all Lexmark W820 printer models. We recommend Lexmark USB cable part number 12A2405 (2 m). The standard parallel port requires an IEEE-1284 compliant parallel cable, such as Lexmark part number 1329605 (10 ft) or 1427498 (20 ft).

Connect the printer to the computer using a parallel or USB cable. — Use an IEEE-1284 compliant parallel cable to ensure that you can access all of your printer functions.

    Verify printer setup Plug one end of the printer power cord into the socket at the back of the printer and the other end into a properly grounded outlet. Turn on the printer. If the printer is attached locally (directly to a computer), leave the computer and any other attached devices turned off.
