    INSTALLATION 3.1 INTRODUCTION This section contains the information necessary for the installation and preliminary checks of the VJ3000 Triode amplifier. 3.2 UNPACKING Remove the unit from its packing and, before anything else, ensure that the unit has not suffered any damage during transit and that all front panel controls are operational.

Use insulated tools for all types of adjustment and do not touch any internal components when the unit is switched on.

    VJ3000 - Technical and Maintenance Manual the PLATE control (5 Fig.4) Disconnect the line supply from the unit. Ensure that the tube has cooled sufficiently to avoid severe burning. Ensure that all internal voltages are at 0V; use a shorting-stick, if necessary.
  • Page 28 FREQUENCY To change the operating frequency of a tube amplifier, the following procedure should be carried out (SETUP 4): Initially, connect only the exciter to the VJ3000 amplifier input, excluding the driver. Adjust the exciter output power to minimum. Connect the supply to the amplifier and pre-position the PLATE command according to TABLE F (length of threaded bar as a function of operating frequency).
  • Page 29 Increase the power supply voltage and check for a proportional increase in anode current (on the VJ3000 meter) and in the current supplied by the power supply. Adjust trimmer R14, situated on protection card, for the right reading.
  • Page 30 Increase the power supply voltage and check for a proportional increase of Grid current on the VJ3000 meter and of the power supply current. Adjust trimmer R29, situated on the protection card for the correct display on the VJ3000 meter.
  • Page 31 3000 W. Adjust trimmer R66 on the protection card to obtain the same reading on the VJ3000 meter (9 Fig.3) as on the external wattmeter. Reduce power to 1500W (equivalent to a 3dB drop). Connect an Ohmeter between pin 9 of the Telemetry connector (SETUP 9) and ground.

  • Page 49 CAPITOLO 1 DESCRIZIONE GENERALE DEL VJ3000 1.1 DESCRIZIONE MECCANICA Il VJ3000 è allocato in un rack 19" , 24U di altezza, di cui 6 sono libere e possono essere usate per allocarvi un eccitatore, un ricevitore e un'altra apparecchiatura. Quattro strumenti analogici sono situati sul pannello frontale (fig.1A) insieme con tuttti i controlli ed interruttori.
