    TRI TOOL INC. TRI TOOL INC. Warranty LIMITED WARRANTY: All products manufactured by Seller are warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use. The period of this warranty shall be three years from the date of shipment for all products, except for welding and Non- Standard Products which shall be one year from the date of shipment.

It is required when returning the defective Goods, that it is suitably packed, fully insured, and transportation and insurance prepaid in accordance with instructions issued by Seller.

    TRI TOOL INC. 2. SAFETY PRECAUTIONS In General Use standard safety equipment such as: hard hats, safety shoes, safety harnesses, protective clothes, and other safety devices when appropriate. Operate this tool only in accordance with specific operating instructions. WARNING: Do not override the dead-man switch on the power unit. Locking down, obstructing, or in any way defeating the dead-man switch on the power drive unit may result in serious injury.
  • Page 9 Before you start operating the equipment, do no-load tests and feed function checks. Tool Use Use the right tool and tool bit for the job. Contact Tri Tool to help with your application. Keep the tool bits fully engaged in the tool bit holders. Loose bits are sharp and can cause cuts or punctures.

    TRI TOOL INC. 3. GENERAL DESCRIPTION The Model 550 Tube Severing Tool series of tube cutters is designed to cut tubing in areas where access to and around the tube is limited. The Model 550 uses a cutter wheel to sever the tube. Normal operation does not produce chips.

    Model 550 Tube Severing Tool 5. MAINTENANCE Periodically clean and coat all components with a light film of oil. Use a clean, non-detergent oil, preferably SAE 10 (90 SSU or lighter.) Replace the Cutting Wheel if it is worn or damaged. The Cutting Wheel life depends upon the tube material, wall thickness, and operator’s experience.

  • Page 15 Make sure Bearing Plugs are clean and are not damaged. Damaged Bearing Plugs affect the performance of the tool and should be changed. Select the Tri Tool Inc. Drive Unit that best suits the operation. The use of a non Tri Tool Inc. Drive Unit will void the warranty.
  • Page 16 6. Load the Model 550 around the tube to be cut. 7. Apply a light force to make sure that the Model 550 is over the tube. 8. Hold the Model 550 perpendicular to the surface of the tube to be cut.

    Model 550 Tube Severing Tool 7. REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENT WARNING: Disconnect the Drive Unit from the Model 550 Tube Cutter before you do any repairs or replacements. This will decrease the risk of personal injury or equipment damage. WARNING Replacement of the Cutter Wheel 1.

    8. AIR DRIVE ASSEMBLY Removal of a Sheared Roll Pin From the Drive Assy 1. Push the Air Drive Assy into the Model 550 Tube Cutter. 2. Rotate it clockwise and pull it out. 3. Unscrew the Bayonet Mounting Tube from the Motor Housing by rotating the Bayonet Mounting Tube counterclockwise.

    TRI TOOL INC. 9. TROUBLESHOOTING Problem: Tool Bit Chatters The tool bit is loose or overextended. The tool bit is damaged. The tool holder is too loose in the slides. The cutting speed is too fast. The clamping pads are loose on the pipe or tube.
