Installing a drive in bay 4 or 5
To install a drive in bay 4 or 5, complete the following steps.
Screws
1. Touch the static-protective package that contains the drive to any unpainted
metal surface on the server; then, remove the drive from the package and place
it on a static-protective surface.
2. Set any jumpers or switches on the drive according to the documentation that
comes with the drive.
3. Slide the drive into position in the drive cage and secure it with the four screws
that were removed from the previous drive.
Attention:
Make sure that you do not hit the microprocessor fan sink when
installing the drive cage.
4. Install the drive cage:
a. Position the drive cage on the tray in the chassis and slide it forward until
the upper and lower clips engage.
Note: Make sure that the locking lever on the drive cage is in the Unlock
position before sliding the drive cage forward.
b. Move the locking lever to the Lock position.
5. Connect the signal and power cables to the new drive or both drives in the drive
cage, if two drives are installed.
Note: Route the signal cable so that it does not block the airflow to the rear of
the drives or over the microprocessor.
6. Install the cover (see "Installing the cover" on page 58).
7. Reconnect the external cables and power cords to the server; then, connect the
power cords to electrical outlets.
8. Turn on the attached devices; then, turn on the server.
