Outline of Guide Contents An initial overview of both the Rear Projection SMART Board 1800 and 1802 provides information on the physical and functional characteristics of these cabinet systems. Two sections of detailed installation instructions follow the overview, describing the set up, installation and wiring procedures for both cabinet models.

  • Page 9: Repositioning The Rear Mirror

    The rear mirror must be repositioned so that it extends beyond and is angled upward from the rear of the cabinet. This accommodates the long projector throw distance required by the large size of the RPSB 1800/1802 SMART Board screen.
  • Page 10 WARNING Be very careful not to smudge the rear of the SMART Board surface while you're working behind it. This surface is easily smudged and very difficult to restore. To convert the large rear mirror from transport to operating position 1.
  • Page 11 Outer baffle Outer baffle 2. Lift the top baffle slightly, then forcefully pull on the lip of the outer baffle (where you see the words "Pull Here"), so that the large rear mirror starts to rotate outwards. NOTE Be very careful not to touch the mirror itself; any fingerprints left on the mirror may obscure the projected image.

Install the two previously removed mirror-lock screws (Step #1) inside the cabinet at the locations indicated in Step #1, using the 3/16" ball driver. These screws lock the repositioned rear mirror into place.

    Installing Components in the Cabinet Removing the Lower Baffle Door and Rear Access Panel In order to install components in the cabinet, you must first remove the lower baffle door and rear access panel. To Remove the Lower Baffle Door and Rear Access Panel: 1.
  • Page 15 Then loosely secure the projector to the platform with the straps provided. NOTE: A centered image on the SMART Board can only be achieved if the projector is placed squarely on the platform. Make sure the projector is parallel to both the front and sides of the cabinet walls.

    They will not hold the computer in place during cabinet transportation. If you transport the cabinet even a short distance, the computer should first be removed. Ensure the computer will not block the probable path of light from the projector to the SMART Board.

    The RPSB 1802 is wired very differently than the RPSB 1800. In the RPSB 1802, all components are connected to the SMART X-Port 10 (rather than directly to other components) so they can be automatically switched over to an external PC (or laptop).

    SMART Board, or the image that appears may be too small to properly fill the SMART Board, even with further adjustments.

    Reflection Small Mirror and Image Reflection 1. Adjust your image so that it is smaller than the SMART Board screen. 2. Access the small mirror from the cabinet's front doors and loosen the thumbscrews on either side of the mirror enough to allow the mirror to be moved (with some friction remaining).

    You must make a few final adjustments to the projector to ensure a focused image that fits within the bezel of your SMART Board at the top and bottom, with a margin of approximately 3/8" on both right and left sides. Try each of the following procedures in turn, always using small, slow movements.

    SMART Notebook allows you to create, organize and save notes on either a Rear Projection SMART Board or at your workstation and then send those notes to a printer. A full range of annotation tools are available to enable you to create a variety of annotations. You can also use Notebook commands to export and import both graphics and text to and from other Windows applications and your Notebook file.

    SMART Board. To use a SMART Board with a projector, you must orient the computer image on the SMART Board to ensure that the Board accurately tracks your finger or a Pen Tray tool. Orienting the SMART Board involves pressing on orientation points displayed on the screen.
  • Page 47 4. If you know the COM port that is connected to your SMART Board, select it from the list of ports provided. If you are not sure which COM port to select, press the Detect SMART Boards button to initiate automatic SMART Board detection on local ports. At this point, you should close any other open programs and save any unsaved work, in the event that your computer locks up during this process.
