Checking the CDI unit

1. Connect the digital circuit test leads to
the orange and black leads from the CDI
unit.
2. Measure the CDI unit output peak volt-
age. If the measurement is below specifi-
cation, check the lead, and measure the
peak output voltages of the pulser and
charge coils.
Digital circuit tester: 90890-03174
Peak voltage adapter B:
90890-03172
CDI unit output peak voltage:
Orange-ground lead

NOTE:
Replace the CDI unit if output peak voltages
of the pulser and charge coils are on or above
specification and the CDI unit output peak
voltage is below specification.

Checking the oil pressure warning
lamp
1. Disconnect the connector from oil pres-
sure switch.
2. Start the engine, then ground the oil pres-
sure switch lead.
3. Check the lamp comes ON. Replace if
necessary.
