NOTE:
9 Shimming is not required when assembling
the original lower case and inner parts.
9 Shimming is required when assembling the
original inner parts and a new lower case.
9 Shimming is required when replacing the
inner part(s).

Selecting the pinion shims

1. Measure the thickness (M1) of the roller
bearing with the special service tool.

NOTE:
9 Measure the roller bearing at 3 points to
find the clearance average.
9 Select the shim thickness (T3) by using the
specified measurement and the calculation
formula.
Digital caliper 1:
90890-06704
2. Calculate the pinion shim thickness.
Pinion shim thickness
(T3) = 6.05 - M1

3. Select the pinion shim(s) (T3) as follows.
